How to Organize Your Kitchen Cabinets in 3 Easy Steps

The primary purpose of kitchen cabinets is simple – they hide your clutter. Today’s kitchens are stuffed with…well, stuff. Gone are the days of a few cupboards holding our dishes and glasses. We now must find storage for blenders and mixers, platters and food processors, crock pots and steamers!

3-Steps to Organizing Kitchen Cabinets

STEP ONE: PURGE
If you’re in the midst of installing RTA cabinets already, this step just got easier! Once your cabinets are empty, it’s easy to see just what those doors have been hiding! Starting from scratch allows you to plan your organization strategy. While it can be difficult to get rid of things we think we may use one day, it’s imperative that you don’t hold on to unneeded items. Start by throwing out anything that no longer works. Next, look for anything you haven’t used in the past six months. This is your opportunity to donate or sell items to someone who will get use out of it.

STEP TWO: PLAN
Take a step back. Look carefully at the layout of your kitchen. Note the position of countertop appliances. For instance: Where is your coffee pot? It would seem reasonable that the mugs should be placed in the nearest cupboard. What items do you want to keep but seldom use? Place those on the higher shelves or toward the back of cabinets leaving room up front for things you use more often.Cabinets Made EZ - Mission Mocha

Other things to consider when you’re planning: Do you have small children? If you have a lower space, making their own storage area helps keep their plastic bowls, sippy cups, and lunch containers within their reach. Do you have enough cabinet space near your stove for pots and pans? What dishes are most likely to be washed in the dishwasher? You may want to store those dishes in a nearby cabinet.

STEP THREE: PLACE
Once you have only the items you plan on keeping and have devised a plan that will create a high functioning kitchen, begin placing. During this step, many people discover the need for a different cabinet layout – or that they merely need a few more! At Cabinets Made EZ, we can solve this problem!

Our RTA cabinets put unlimited potential at your fingertips. In addition to cabinets in the traditional sense, Cabinets Made EZ carries wine racks, cook centers, microwave, and universal oven cabinets, Lazy Susan corners, file cabinet drawers and more.
